Video Lessons

After finding Troy on line and setting up our first online session I was a bit concerned if this would work remotely, but soon found that it was the same as being in the same space.

Troy provided me a specific step by step process that I was too learn between lessons, backed with instructions or a short video of the technique. I set about learning practicing daily, during the lessons Troy pointed out areas where I was going wrong, and helped with pulling me back to the basics when needed, as getting the circular breathing correct is really the key.

Overall if you want to learn correctly I suggest getting in touch with Troy, and spending 10 minutes a day practicing and soon like me, playing will become second nature and you will be hooked.

Thanks Troy!"

Dealing with Blocks

Psychological / Mental, Energetic, Emotional

When learning any new skill, sometimes blocks can present which prevent you from progressing.  Never is this more true than on didgeridoo / circular breathing.

Why?

In order to play the didgeridoo, you will activate muscles in the respiratory system that may have been dormant for a long time.  A deep connection to the diaphragm and breath mechanism is developed.  Going into previously dormant areas of the body can challenge emotional holding patterns and dormant emotions. This instrument takes you deep into your sub conscious / unconscious.

The combination of rythm and breath allows you to access parts of yourself emotionally that have been long buried.  Sometimes we have gate-keepers, set up long ago, which set in place automatic avoidance pathways which prevent us accessing these places of unresolved trauma and potential healing.

If one or more of these gate-keepers come up in the process of learning circular breathing, it may look like:

  • Resistance to practice,

  • Negative Self talk (I can't do this, you F'ing idiot, you'll never play.... etc)

  • Resistance to learning new material / methods,

  • Getting stuck in the same spot and feeling, stuck, empty, numb, blank.  Eventually, you just put the instrument down because it feels you have gone as far as you can go.

  • Resistance to booking another lesson, or telling your teacher you're stuck (potential criticism / shame), etc!

  • Resistance from even starting the process of learning.

What to do if you feel blocked progressing or Even Booking your initial lesson?

Firstly, recognise that the resistance is here to protect you from a potentially harmful experience. You put it in place long ago.  It is not your enemy.

As part of the learning process, if there was strong resistance in place, we would stop regularly and give that resistance a voice.  Whether verbally or written.

  • Journalling the voice / energy out is an important aspect of the lesson process if there is resistance happening.

  • Take your awareness into the body to observe how it is reflected physically,

  • Other guided processes to sit with and explore how the resistance / block is showing up and what is required to bring it to awareness.

If this is you, don't be ashamed.  We all have these protective parts, but many don't realise there is a pathway to support them and the underlying trauma / emotional upset to be released into conscious awareness and for a more free and capable surface level of experience.

Blessings

Troy
