The Process
The Process of making a working bamboo flute includes:

These Steps done by Troy beforehand

Collecting the Raw Bamboo

Curing (2-3 Months)

Cutting to size & Burning

Craft the Mouthpiece​

Get the Pitch of the Flute

Choose the Key & Hertz Reference for A (440, 444, 432)
- Burn or Drill the finger holes
- Tune each hole (Rough)
- Re-tune Each hole (Fine)
- Play the flute to guage if your creation is complete
- Paint the inside of the flute with food grade protective paint to help prevent mould.
- Oil the outside of the flute,
- Burn in the details
- Binding and Finishing Touches
- Within 2 Weeks of your Flute being Completed, you will receive a 1/2 hour lesson on the flute (In-Person or by Video)

Troy has been playing native style flutes for over 15 years, including Irish Whistle, Native American Flute, Quena, and Side Blown Bamboo Flutes such as Bansuri. Troy has also been teaching some of these flute styles for almost 10 years now and has recorded several albums for download on this website.
.This experience on these native flutes guives Troy a solid entry point into making flutes and he has been on a journey of exploration and refinement for over 3 years now in making Bamboo flutes.

Many of the flutes he has made sell for over $200 and he has made multiple recordings for download.

Troy recently has decided to share his process with anyone who wishes to make their own flute.​

Do I need to be able to play the flute?
It depends. If you make a Native American Style Flute, you will be able to get a sound and tune your instrument, however those making quena style flutes can tune the flute only if they can make a sound using flute Embouchure.
